Along with working, we should be careful about our savings, investments, etc. Nowadays most people want to live like a free bird, want to live for themselves. Our older generations use to work hard to feed their family. But in today’s generation people mainly earns to fulfill their big dreams. Many of us are earning so that we can spend our money on traveling. We can see beautiful places, go for adventures and live our life the fullest. But do you think just dreaming big is enough if we don’t have any plans? One needs to save a lot of money to go for trips and a lot more if they are dreaming of a world tour.
So today I am going to share some tips about how to save up for a world tour.
1. Open A Savings Account

Open a savings account just for your travel purpose. You have to dedicatedly save money for your world trip. Decide on a particular amount that you are going to transfer to your savings account each month. No need to set the bar too high that you failed to maintain it each month. Even it is a minimum of Rs 5000 or Rs 10,000 just do it. Always remember “little drops of water make the mighty ocean.” No amount of money is less when it comes to saving. It might take some time and patience to reach the budget for your trip but it will be worth it. So never stop transferring money to your savings account.
2. Keep Your Expenses On Track

Budgeting is very important when it comes to savings. You need to keep a tab of all your earnings as well as your expenses. Make a budget for yourself at the start of every month and never allow yourself to cross the limit of your budget. Now try to reduce the budget a little in the next month and try to adjust within that budget. Remember, if you want to save reducing your budget should be your only option, not expanding it. In case you spent less than your budget in a particular month, you can immediately transfer that money into your savings account. There are some apps like Mint, PocketGuard, GoodBudget which help you to keep track of your expenses. So, use them and track your expenses easily.
3. Change Your Food Budget

Visiting fancy cafes and restaurants is something we do every now and then. I mean who doesn’t love to try new foods and giving one’s Instagram feed an aesthetic vibe with the pictured of cafes and restaurants? We all do. But sadly no one can have it all. If you want to save money for your trip you have to stop eating outside every now and then. You can easily cook your own meals and save a lot of money. Don’t know how to cook? Tons of YouTube videos are there that can easily teach you how to cook. Choose your handmade coffee instead of Starbucks. Once in a month, you can feed your soul with some Starbuck coffee, but not every day. Another good option is to take your homemade food to the office and avoiding your office cafeteria.
4. Use Public Transport

We are so used to choosing comfortable options that sometimes we just give in to spending a lot of money. Life is super busy for today’s generation. They have to go to the office every day, attend different social events, visit their friends, etc. Imagine the amount of money you will spend if you take your car or uber everywhere. The price of petrol is no joke in today’s world. So how about not choosing the comfortable option every time and travel on public transport? We all know the metro is one of the easiest transports that helps you to reach your destination. It neither takes much time nor much money. So, sit with your notepad and just calculate how much money you can save by taking a bus or a metro instead of your car. I know due to the pandemic public transport may not be the safest option. So, you should always wear your masks and carry a sanitizer. The money you will be saving by taking public transport can easily go into your travel fund.
5. Avoid Pubs

These days pubs are doing great in terms of business because of the ambiance they create. They attract the attention of lots of young people and they remain crowded mainly on weekdays. But if you see the prices of the drinks, they are quite high compare to the foods. So, going to pubs can consider quite a lavish way of spending money. It is no big deal to spend money on pubs once a month because we can’t stop doing everything, we want just to spend money for our world trip. What we can do is adjust our budget a little. It is better to avoid visiting pubs every weekend if you want to save a good amount of money within a less span of time. So, make your new budget and take care of your health at the same time by avoiding visiting pubs.
6. Use Thrift Stores

Okay, here me out, this one is one of the best options to save money for the trip you are dreaming about. I don’t think anyone who doesn’t like shopping exists. We tend to spend a lot of our earnings by buying clothes, shoes, and other accessories. But it is not always necessary to go for the branded clothes that might make a hole in our pocket. There are many clothes which we have bought and never used more than twice or thrice. So that is also a waste of money. Thrift store allows you to sell your clothes that you have worn twice or thrice and haven’t used them again. You can also buy clothes that other people have sold. You might get some branded clothes at a really good price and can easily save a lot of money. So next time try to go for thrift stores rather than some high branded stores.
If you think about it saving for your world trip is not really a tough thing. It can be done by fixing your budget, making a specific amount of budget that you will be spending every month. It might help you to lead a healthy lifestyle and also make your travel fund strong. Try to search for ways where you won’t have to spend a lot. Like buying old books, not paying for cable anymore since we use the internet almost all the time, etc. Spend wisely and save quickly to fulfill your dream of a world tour.
